Simplified Approach for the Seismic Assessment of Existing X Shaped CBFs: Examples and Numerical Applications

The capacity of a structure can be assessed using inelastic analyses, requiring sophisticated numerical procedures such as pushover and incremental dynamic analyses. A simplified method for the evaluation seismic performance steel Concentrically Braced Frames (CBFs) to used in everyday practice immediate aftermath an earthquake has been recently proposed. This evaluates existing building employing analytical trilinear model without resorting any non-linear analysis. proposed methodology set up through large parametric analysis, carried out on 420 frames designed according three different approaches: first one is Theory Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC), ensuring design structures showing global collapse mechanisms (GCBFs), second based Eurocode 8 requirements (SCBFs), third non-seismic design, (OCBFs). In this paper, some examples application are with references that supposed exhibit global, partial, soft storey mechanisms.
